Using a common sense approach to your skin care will make you realize that there is actually a lot you can do. One of the biggest threats to people involves sun damage that can be minor or life threatening cancer. Some Western countries have experienced continually increasing rates of skin cancer for decades. Spending too much time exposed to ultra violet light is one of the reasons people get skin cancer. A lot of this is vanity - especially when someone wants to have a "good tan." Drink an adequate amount of water and wear a good quality sunscreen if it is necessary for you to be under any type of ultra violet lighting - such as the sun - longer than normal.

For countless years, there are people who have been challenged and frustrated with their oily skin. Sadly, most people just try to handle the problem by themselves and think this is their only option. Just guessing at what the solutions might be is not doing yourself any favors. The first thing to do is gently cleanse your skin twice a day, especially if it is over oily and you get frequent pimples and blackheads. This twice-a-day washing habit can be the beginning of a simple daily care regimen. The rest of the time, keep your hands off of your face. Don't be constantly rubbing at your pimples or popping them. Yuk! All you're doing is causing the pores to become more clogged which, in the long run, can turn into more blemishes. Staying hydrated by drinking sufficient water every day, as well as changing your diet so that you mainly eat healthy foods, are two more important steps you can take.

Many skin care product lines have formulated a powder that is designed to help people with excessive oil on their skin. Don't go dumping a lot of this powder on your skin before you try it out and see what the effect is. Of course the whole point of the powder is to help absorb excess oil. Avoid over-using this kind of powder product for several reasons. It's very easy for the resulting oily powder to clog your pores. Because of their convenient packaging, we've noticed that these powders are easy to take with you to work, or just about any other place. Using these powders is simply a temporary "fix" and won't do anything to stop the problem.
