Many people love the golden glow that comes from having a tan. However, as more is learned about the harm that can come from laying in the sun, people look for other options. Self tanning using Ultra dark tanning lotion is one of these options. The only problem with this product is that people often have questions about using it. Having these questions answered is generally all that it takes to remove any doubts that one may have about sunless tans.

Exfoliate your skin. Doing this removes dead, dry, flaky skin. If you decide not to take the time to get rid of this skin, your tan will be blotchy and uneven. When you exfoliate, you give yourself a smooth foundation for adding color to your skin. This is not something that you want to skip.

Make sure you have adequate time to complete the process. You should not attempt to begin this when you are in a hurry. You want time to apply the product and time for it to dry. Any time you must rush off to work or a date, save this project for another day. Give yourself time to follow all of the steps well and to allow the color to dry.

After your shower use moisturizer to the areas of your skin that will grab extra color. These are the dry areas on your body. Your knees, elbows and ankles should have a layer of moisturizer before you begin giving yourself a tan.

Use even strokes when you apply the product. It is a good idea to begin on your legs and work your way up. Be sure that you are using smooth strokes as you apply. Take your time and be thorough during this step so your tan will be even. Rushing through and not paying close attention could result in streaks.

Clean your hands as soon as you finish applying the product. Your palms are an area that absorbs color more deeply than other areas. The palms area also not areas that you tan naturally so you do not want color on them. Leave the bottom of your feet color free as well.

Stay undressed as your tan dries. If you absolutely have to get dressed wear something that is loose so it will not rub on your skin. If you wear something tight you may rub off some of your color. As a heads up, you may also notice some color coming off the first time that you shower after you tan. This is nothing to worry about and is normal.

Once you apply your ultra dark tanning lotion the color will develop. If you want a deeper color, you can reapply a couple of times that first week. To keep your tan keep up on applications. One or two times per week will keep your golden glow year round. If you let your tan go for a week or more without keeping up with it, your color will begin to fade. In addition to keeping up on your color applications, you want to be sure to keep your skin well moisturized. You will look better and have healthier skin by doing this.
